ACCREDITATIONS & AFFILIATIONS
At this time, there are no mandatory regulations for a 501c3 horse rescue or sanctuary in Virginia. So how do you know if your rescue is reputable?
---
Thankfully, there are several optional accreditations that a rescue can apply for to demonstrate their transparency and dedication to equine welfare. Just like each of Virginia's rescue and sanctuary organizations, each accreditation has its own set of unique priorities. It's important to do your own research to understand which rescue aligns with your personal priorities and ethics.
